Former Irlbacher Hof in Straubing to become student accommodation StudiTUM house planned

Good news for the TUM Campus Straubing: Last week, the budget committee chaired by Member of Parliament Josef Zellmeier approved the purchase of the former "Irlbacher Hof" restaurant by the Free State of Bavaria. The purchase was finalised immediately.

The planned new building is to be used for the StudiTUM Houses concept, which already exist at the three main locations. The fourth StudiTUM centre would thus be established in Straubing. This will fulfil the needs for individual and group study spaces, as well as exchange opportunities for students. In addition to study space, events and creative and productive work by the many student groups will also be made possible.

The purchase of the Irlbacher Hof for the TU Munich will strengthen the Straubing campus and eliminate a vacancy. "A good and pragmatic solution for the city of Straubing and the Free State of Bavaria," explained Zellmeier.

Mayor Markus Pannermayr emphasised: "Facilities such as StudiTUM are extremely valuable in providing local students with additional opportunities for their education and thus also for their professional advancement." Prof Volker Sieber was also delighted: "A place like this has been missing in Straubing until now, and a place of retreat for students and for learning is very important."
