On 20 October, Völkl Sports GmbH in Straubing-Sand gave a group of students from the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability an exclusive insight into its modern ski factory with production facilities in Germany as part of a factory tour.

Students from TUM Campus Straubing learn interesting facts about the company from Markus Fuchs of Völkl Sports GmbH.

Markus Fuchs (Head of Industrial Engineering and Maintenance at Völkl Sport GmbH) gave the participants a first-hand account of how Völkl combines state-of-the-art technologies with craftsmanship – always with a view to sustainable and resource-efficient production. Step by step, the individual phases of ski production were explained – from material selection to final assembly – and it was demonstrated how ecological responsibility and the highest quality standards can be reconciled.

The tour was followed by a discussion on the company's sustainability strategy. Together with Melanie Frick (Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Völkl Sports GmbH) and Michael Knye (Global Sustainability Manager at Elevate Outdoor Collective), the students discussed current projects, measures and future initiatives relating to sustainability, also with regard to global markets.

The event not only offered an insight into the production processes of an internationally successful company, but also provided a valuable platform for our students to learn about sustainability issues in a practical way.
